DSC#187 Swirly Bird

Hi!  Look at this sketch, it just screams 4th of July doesn't it?  Well...I didn't jump on that bandwagon, instead I went with this....

I had an idea and much to my surprise it turned out exactly like I was hoping it would!  Love it when that happens. LOL  I used the Swirly Bird stamp set and the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies along with the New In Colors to make this card.

Let's check out what the other STARS have been up to...I sure hope someone made a card for the 4th!

Stamp Set:  Swirly Bird
Paper:  Dapper Denim, Whisper White, Emerald Envy, Soft Suede
Ink:  Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum

June Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Hello!  Just a quick post showing you a card I made using the June Paper Pumpkin kit.  The other day I saw a card made by another SU demo and decided to make my own version of that.

First, I used the Everyday Jars Framelits to cut out the center of the card. Second, I put some sequins in one of the little triangle bags that came with the kit, sealed it with the included wash tape, and then taped it to the back of the card front. Third, I took a plain piece of 3" x 4' Whisper White card stock and cut the same jar shape out of the center so I could use it for a backing to hide all of the tape holding baggie in place!  Fourth, I heat embossed the lid using the Jar of Love stamp set and carefully glued it to the front of card.  Fifth, I stamped Happy Birthday using the stamp set included with the kit.  Last, I found some silver and white baker's twine from an older kit and tied a bow.

Well, that's it...thanks for stopping by!

June Paper Pumpkin

Hello!  I just got back from vacation and found my Paper Pumpkin waiting for me.  This month's kit makes banners.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them, but then I got to thinking that maybe the girls who walked my dog each day while we were gone would like them.
The kit comes with these triangle pouches, sequins, washi tape, gold foil letters and white circles.  Here's Katie's banner.  (Sorry about the dark's raining here and I used ALL of my lights.)

You also get these cards to wrap the banner around.  They used some of the words included in the stamp set on the card, but none were appropriate for this occasion so I just stamped the speckles.
Envelopes also come with the kit and here's the stamp set.

That's it for today.  I am going to try to share some alternate projects soon.  No promises though...I have to make another baby scrapbook! lol Also, I'm a bit behind in my personal scrapbooking so I want to get caught up with that too.  I really need to do a page featuring the bear we saw while hiking in Shenandoah National Park!!  Yikes - it was really exciting!!!

DSC#186 In Colors & A Jar!

What a great challenge this week - the new In Colors!!!  Believe me when I say they are a real joy to work with. I love each and every one of them.  Here's my card:
I used the Jar of Love and the coordinating Everyday Jar Framelits Dies for this card - this just might be my favorite  bundle in the entire current catalog!!  Take a look at the jar band, did you notice that I heat embossed it with the fabulous new copper embossing powder? I must admit that heat embossing is not my favorite technique...way too messy for me, but in order to get this terrific look it will be worth the extra effort!

Take a look at what the other STARS have made this week:
Stamp Set:  Jar of Love
Ink:  Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum
Paper:  Emerald Envy, Peekaboo Peach, Whisper White
Big Shot:   Everyday Jar Framelits Dies
Extras:  Heat Tool, Copper Emboss Powder

Another Father's Day Card

Hi!  I made this card last fall and saved it for my son to give my husband for Father's Day.
Just so you know, both the stamp set and DSP were in the 2016 Occasions Catalog and are no longer available. I wanted to share it anyway since it's such a nice manly card! This was one of the make and takes we made at the Milwaukee On Stage event last November.  I'm glad I remembered that I had this card! (Actually I had it sitting out on one of my counters for the last 7 months so I wouldn't forget! lol)

Thanks for stopping by and have a good day!

Happy Father's Day

Hello!  I wanted to share a simple, but cute Father's Day card that I made for my husband.
I used the new Swirly Bird stamp set and coordinating Swirly Scribbles Thinlits to make this card.  The sail boat pieces are cut by hand, but the waves and sun were cut using my Big Shot and the Thinlits.  Cool, huh??!!  I love this set.  I almost passed it by, but then I started seeing a ton of cool cards made using it, glad I changed my mind.

Stamp Set:  Swirly Bird
Ink:  Dapper Denim, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso
Paper:  Marina Mist, Whisper White, Dapper Denim, Daffodil Delight
Big Shot:  Swirly Scribbles Thinlits

Hi!  Who doesn't like butterflies?  The sky was the limit with this week's challenge. I had so many ideas running through my brain, here's what I ended up making...
I decided to use the new In Colors for this card (I can't stop using them, and to think I considered not ordering them! lol).  I stamped the leaves onto the Whisper White card base, and then used my retired Circle Framelits to cut out the center of the Dapper Denim piece of Envelope Paper which I glued onto the card base.  I was going to add a sentiment at the bottom, but then I just decided to add the bow from the Jar of Love stamp set - love this bow!!
The butterfly was stamped with Memento Black ink and colored in with a blender pen dabbed on the In Color ink pads.  After I punched it out with the Elegant Butterfly punch I mounted it with a couple of Dimensionals.

Take a few minutes to check out what my fellow STARS have done with this challenge:
Stamp Sets:  Papillon Potpourri, Butterfly Basics
Ink:  Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum
Paper:  Whisper White, Dapper Denim Envelope Paper
Big Shot:  Circle Framelits (retired),  Everyday Jars Framelits
Punch:  Elegant Butterfly

Mini Note Folder

Hello!  I have a friend at school who loves to color, so I decided I wanted to make her a little coloring book.  Well, it just wasn't turning out the way I wanted it I ended up making a little folder and cutting note sized paper to tuck into the pockets.  Things ended up working out and now she can color and then use them to write notes!
Here's the front.  I used products from the March Paper Pumpkin kit to make a belly band.

Here's what the inside looks like.

Here's half of the pages.  FYI - a lot of these stamp sets are retired.

Here's the other half. I'm thinking that she will have fun coloring

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hello.  Today we have a color challenge.  I decided to use one more of my May Paper Pumpkin cards for this challenge. For the first time ever I have made all the cards from one of the kits within a month!
A piece of Basic Black card stock was used behind the card front.  The flowers and leaves were cut out using my Big Shot and the Botanical Builder Framelits.  White Perfect Accents were used for the flower centers.  The "you" was made using the Hello You Thinlits and my Big Shot, this set coordinates with the Crazy about You stamp set.

Check out what my fellow STARS have made with these three colors:

More Paper Pumpkin

Hi.  I had some time this morning to make some more cards using my May Paper Pumpkin kit.

I changed things up a bit and used some retired DSP behind the card front. (I apologize for the poor photo quality, it was raining out when I took this.)

I used the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp on the inside of the card. I kind of like being able to see the back side of the DSP.

This card used the supplies included with the kit.

That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by.

Check out this awesome sketch for this week - I really liked this one! Here's what I made.
I love porch swings and was so excited to see this new stamp set in the 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! catalog.  I think the flowers cut out with the Botanical Builder Framelits were just the touch I was looking for.  I can just imagine sitting on the swing with a good book and a glass of lemonade surrounded by flowers.
The new 2016-2018 In Colors were used - love all of them!  I used makers to color in the swing and pillows.

Check out what my fellow STARS have been up to this week:
Stamp Set: Sitting Here
Paper:  Whisper White, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo,  Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum,
            Dapper Denim
Ink/Markers:  Basic Black, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo,  Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum,
            Dapper Denim
Big Shot:  Oval Framelits (retiring), Botanical Builder Framelits
